Kenich Lee professionally known as Black Mattic is a Jamaican songwriter, producer, recording artiste and actor. Emerging from Waterhouse ‘the music capital’ located in Kingston 11, Black Mattic, the musical brainchild ventured into music due to his early exposure from his family members. For over a decade, he spent an extensive amount of time patiently crafting his talent in recording and producing music, whilst familiarizing himself with all the musical components required to master his techniques.
Between 2010 and 2012, Black Mattic released a series of independent mixtape projects namely Purple Touch, Frass Out and Kingston 11. In 2012, Kingston 11 gained popularity on the Top40 Charts & Coast to Coast Websites as one of must have mixtapes for the summer.
In 2012, he released the 12 track album called Hot Grabba, some of the songs featured on this album were “Far Away”, “Never Give Up” and “Just Another Day”. The album was successful with the single "Never Give Up" peaking at 25 on Spain's iTunes Top 100 list. The re-mastered version for this album was released in 2016.
In 2013, Black Mattic gained international recognition after releasing his hit single “Super Star”. The video which was produced by MTV’s Mike Leonard racked up over 1 million views worldwide. Determined to pursue a career as an international recording artiste, this was the fuel he needed to propel him to the next level.
Over the years, Black Mattic has worked with international recording artistes such as Akon, Beenie Man, grammy nominated group Raging Fyah and many others. He has done several music soundtracks for movie production houses in Los Angeles.
In 2015, he released the single “Bad Gal” and performed at Taj Manhattan in New York in association with Power 105 and Ciroc.
In the summer of 2016, he released Re-Loaded, a 10 track album which featured singles such as “If A Never You”, “Without Dancehall” and “Love Story”. “If A Never You” achieved #1 position on the British Virgin Charts in 2016.
On the 1st of January 2017, the Black Mattic: Top Striker Freestyle Mixtape Vol 1 hosted by ZJ Elektra from Zip 103 FM was released. The mixtape features 41 tracks with singles such as “Want You To Know”, “100 Magic Bars”, “Hero Dance” and many more. “Hero Dance” achieved international recognition when it became a viral dance in the dancehall arena in Jamaica, Japan and Europe. The mixtape has been receiving attention all over the world with over 100,000 streams and downloads to date.
Black Mattic continues to gain popularity on the Jamaican stage via print, social media, television and radio with singles such as “3310 Rock”, " Pull Up" “Teach Dem”, “2lb Sugar”, “Work Hard” along with many others.
Notwithstanding his rising success on the international and local market as a talented musician, Black Mattic has managed to build other ventures including his own entertainment company in Jamaica called Official Hitz Music Group (OHMG), a subsidiary of his New York based company Official Hitz Entertainment. This company comprises of a clothing line, architectural designs, script writing in movie, tv series and animation.
